Please share your comments about your experience : This is an update of our previous review in 2015, we continued our stay until Aug. 2017 when we left for a workamping job in Florida, during our time there renovations of enclosed shelters and construction of new leased lots continued along with many other projects, The owner and Maintenance mgr were a pleasure to work with and have become good friends and in the 14 mos we were gone we missed them and the park, so much we decided to return this winter and stay until Mar.2019, we are building 60 more rv lots along with finishing the renovation of the remaining shelters, this is still what I consider a "working park" as there are always projects to improve the park , I have always enjoyed my time at the park and have made a few friends along the way !

Please share your comments about your experience : This is our first work camping job. This 180 acre park has been in existence for many years and the previous manager severely neglected it. In October 2014, the new manager took over with a new grounds manager. That is when we started and the clean up has been extensive. It was made clear to us before we started it would be a lot of physical outdoor work. Texas had a 5+ year drought, which had severely depleted Lake Tawakoni. All the hard work was rewarded with Spring rains that brought the lake level to above full pool level. Two boat ramps reopened, fishing resumed from all shores and the fishing pier. We renovated one cabin and cleaned up the others, cleaned up the RV and tent sites and since Easter weekend have been very busy. We hear a lot of positive feedback from our guests about the improvements. We had a very successful July 4 weekend where the park was very full and active. Guests are swimming, fishing, deer and bird watching and camping. There is more work to be done and we view it as a rehabilitation project. The new manager is great to work with; he is flexible, patient, fair and has a great vision for the revival of this beautiful park. DH mostly assists with grounds maintenance, DW works in the office and cleans cabins.

Did you receive any special benefits or perks while workamping? : FHU, 50 amp with electric included, DISH TV free, 25% discount in store.

Please share your comments about your experience : This park is under new management and there's a lot of cleaning up to do. We cleared a lot of land, sometimes with hand tools only as you are not allowed to use power tools on the weekends.

Cleaned a lot of bathrooms which was the nastiest part of the job. East Texas hillbillies crapped on the floor, walls, etc.

Site was ok but most of them were either too short or uneven. Very muddy when it rain sand you are in tornado ally.

You are given a golf cart to use and we were allowed to use the washer/dryer in the office since the ones in the park are crap.

Wages range $8-$10/hour and each person has to work at least 9 hours a week to pay for the site.
