Please share your comments about your experience : The rating was low for this spot because we didn't truly realize the situation we had signed up for, because this spot is very secluded. One of us had to drive an hour round trip to go work at another city, and the other had a temporary job in Alto but because they had to do the Volunteer maintenance work they quit the Alto job because it was becoming overwhelming. Originally we were told that we were going to be doing maintenance and museum work, but then it became pretty clear that it was mostly maintenance they wanted. We were able to help establish a Geocaching program, which was nice to have for our resume. We were also told that we were going to be the only couple for the winter season and then 11 more people moved onto the site. It was shortly after this that the washer/dryer we were told we could use had broken, and the limited amount of Wi-Fi that was available became almost non-existent. Also, we didn't feel that it was fair that a larger group of people using the site/facilities were working the same amount of hours (and sometimes less) then we were, and this made us feel a little bit used being just a couple. The job wasn't really what we were expecting and we actually lost money by spending our winter doing this volunteer spot. The site is really unique and the grounds are beautiful, and would probably work better for people who don't require much income and can perform a great deal of maintenance work.
