Please share your comments about your experience : Mark and Donna were fantastic employees. I dont know what was the best park of working at Bear Den campground, the spectacular location or the people that we worked for. The park is amazing and offers too many amenities to list. Our campsite was very private and we were provided a golf cart to get around the rolling terrain. I worked in the office/campstore and my husband maintained sites, escorted incoming guests and painted the many projects going on.

Did you receive any special benefits or perks while workamping? : It was a special benefit just to be there. Our owners treated us to several lunches and dinners throughout the season. We would have worked there just for the hookup but were lucky to receive hourly pay with raises as the season progressed.

Please share your comments about your experience : New owners are investing a lot of mo ey for improvements, paving roads etc. Dedicated satelite and wifi for workampers, even giving us 2 boxes so we could watch separately in living and bedroom. Huge wk sites, beautiful area. Not much in the way of entertainment unless you drive for an hour, but a beautiful area great for motorcycle riding. Treated very well, given raises and a bonus, 2 appreciation dinners.

Please share your comments about your experience : We worked at Bear Den Family Campground in North Carolina as managers for 4 years. We were over worked and under paid. We were on call 24/7. One workamper said “it put the work in workamping”. This is so true. We put up with angry campers, workampers, back biting, etc. The rumors coming from the office really made our job hard and the owner would not stand behind us on any issue. However, his favorite saying is---due unto others as you would have them due unto you. The deception is rampant in the office. However, at first, they come across as very sweet and loving. Due to the amount of work and the low pay, we had a very hard time getting workampers. When we did, most would leave early. Due to the back biting and interference of some of the full time office personnel, we felt it best to move on. We stayed as long as we did hoping it would get better. It never did. We went out of our way to try and keep peace with our workers and to make sure all the campers had a pleasant stay. We made many friends. They said if we quit, they would not be back due to the way we were treated. And they haven't. Several workampers left shortly after we did. I do not recommed working for this park . Cell service is bad and works only in certain areas, there is no cable tv and if you want wifi, you have to go down by the office to use it (if it works).
