Please share your comments about your experience : We were hired through Express to work the piler site west of Glendive, MT in 2019. The weather was unusually wet/cold so the harvest was delayed. We were furnished a campsite in a rundown trailer park on the train tracks, which was fine. We weren’t there for the amenities but the place was noisy and very sketchy. When work finally started, we spent the day in 40mph wind and limited visibility due to blowing dust and snow. The beets, which easily weigh 2+# each and are frozen solid, routinely fly off the ancient conveyor belt. I was hit in the face below my hard hat because I never saw it flying toward me! The dump trucks wobbled so violently when they raised their beds to dump it was truly horrifying. I can’t believe they hire elderly people for this job. Two of our coworkers were in such poor shape, they basically just stood around. We are in our 50’s and in good shape and the work was filthy, dangerous, and miserable. We left after two days. I honestly wouldn’t work at Sydney Sugar for $100/hr! We felt very lucky to have escaped without serious injury. If you have any other options, please skip this job! The only positive was visiting Makoshika State Park for hiking before the harvest started. A gorgeous place!
