Please share your comments about your experience : A review of my Camp Host experience at High Falls State Park, GA. I've been a workamper for 5 years and have worked at apx 23 different State, National, Private, COE parks in various positions. I began at High Falls State Park in GA Feb 1, 2019 as a Camp Host and scheduled to depart April 29th 2019. PARK & WORK: The park is beautiful & has 2 different campgrounds, lakeside and riverside. I'm on the lake side. Hosts have FHU. We have 6 yurts to maintain & only 13 campsites, 1 bath house. The work is typical of a camp host position & manageable....cleaning sites, firepits, bath house and yurts, sell firewood, late check ins & have a golf cart & all tools and supplies furnished. We must be on duty and at our camp site from 5pm to 10pm for late arrivals in addition to our clean up duties earlier in the day. Our state park agreement indicates a minimum of 24 hours a week...I usually do apx 30. We work 4 days on & 4 days off. The location is very rural with nearest real shopping about 20 minutes away. MANAGEMENT: Severely lacking. I was here for 2 months before I met the Park Manager. Printed and verbal instructions conflict. Depending on who in management is on duty you will get a different answer to questions concerning rule violations & with the exception of one management employee.....the park rules are not enforced. Park Manager told me it only takes 10 minutes to clean the bath house which shows he is not in touch with what his volunteers actually do and he does not value our service. Hosts are on duty until 10pm and a member of management is supposed to be on duty until then for us to call if we need assistance. The park is open until 10pm as we have a day use area too. Tonight, a call to the MOD at 9:15pm for an electrical issue on one of my sites resulted in me being told " I've literally just put my pajamas on and really don't want to come down. Tell them they can move to another site or deal with it". This will not be on my list of places to return to.
